Documentation Requirements
A code signing certificate is an identity certificate so you will have to prove to Comodo that you are who
you say you are. It isn't as complicated as it sounds and even though the
validation is done by Comodo, someone from K Software is always available to help. Never hesitate to
email us with questions or concerns.
Here are a few things you should know to help the validation process go smoothly :
-
Use your legal name.
When filling out the order form make sure you put your legal name in the Publisher Name field.
Your legal name can be your personal name if you're ordering individually or a company name
if you have a registered company. DBA (Doing Business As) companies can get a certificate in
the business name if the name is registered with your local government, a utility company or a bank.
If you are applying for a code signing certificate in a registered company's name you'll be asked to
provide one of the following :
- Articles of Incorporation/Organization
- Business License
- DUNS details (e.g. your Dun & Bradstreet company number)
-
A full list of acceptable business documentation from all countries
can
be found here
Getting a DUNS number is free at the Dunn & Bradstreet website.
They have a number of paid services but their free level of registration is all you need to get a DUNS number.
-
Use an Email address at a domain owned by you or your company
Comodo will look at the WHOIS of the domain you use on the order page so make sure any WhoisGuard or Privacy options
have been disabled. You can re-apply any privacy settings once Comodo verified domain ownership. If you would
like to check the WHOIS of your domain you can use a free WHOIS tool like the one at our favorite registrar, NameCheap - just click here and choose Whois from the top right.
Do not use a free email address like Hotmail or Gmail
Remember, all orders are guaranteed - you can order completely risk free. If you don't get your certificate (or don't want it after you do), you get a refund.
Renewing? No problem!
You can order a new code signing certificate through K Software and take advantage of our discounted price even if you've ordered from Comodo or
any other CA in the past.
There is no special renewal process if you've purchased a certificate in the past. Place a new order
using the same company information and the validation process should go much faster than your first order.
All documentation is considered valid for 27 months. Even if you ordered outside that time frame your re-order will be faster.
Be sure to quote your previous order number in any correspondence with Comodo.
The certificate period starts from the issuance date of your new certificate - any time left on your old certificate
won't be added to the new one. Because of that it is a good idea to order your new certificate a few weeks in advance
of your expiration date (we'll email you to remind you).

kSign was written specifically for customers that have purchased code signing certificates through K Software. If you didn't purchase your certificate through K Software you can still use kSign for free but you'll be taken back to this website when the software signs a file.
Clear instructions, outstanding support, reasonable prices, and quick delivery. Compare to the other certificate vendors, which have... well, NONE of that!
